This is an action packed day specifically designed to help open learning students to get started on their studies. The course aims to build students' confidence and also to clarify the standard of work required to do well . It also aims to take the mystique out of technical drawing with a demonstration of the equipment and how it is used.
The programme will include principles of studying from home; making a study timetable; where to get help; how to research and source materials . There will be advice on the presentation and posting of work and how the work is marked. The day will also include practical workshops on sketching, concept boards and sample boards. Preparation and presentation of the History of Styles notebook and the Window Treatment and Fabric notebook will also be explained.
The day will be run by Open Learning tutors, so you will be able to put a face to a name when you use one of the Student Support Services and there will be an opportunity to ask them questions about your course.
Another plus is the chance to meet other students on the same course, and you can exchange e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.
The syllabus includes:-
