Unique student support services

KLC has developed a unique support system for the Open Learning Courses to ensure students achieve their goals

When students enrol on a KLC Open Learning Course, they become a part of the college community. This is why we refer to our courses as Open Learning rather than Distance Learning – students are not left studying at home in isolation, but are automatically welcomed into the KLC community. With this comes a system of support services, some of which are outlined below. This level of student support is simply not available elsewhere.

Friendly and professional support

Students can contact the Open Learning team between 9.00am-5.30pm Monday to Friday by phone or e-mail to get friendly and professional support with their studies.

E-learning resources

A large part of the course materials are delivered online.  Certain sections of the Open Learning Diploma Courses steer students to the KLC website, where additional study information, examples of students’ work, project briefs and special updates can be found. The student support section of the website for all the Open Learning Courses also acts as a platform for further research and provides access to the students own personal records.

On-line student forums

Become part of the KLC online community! Easy to use, this facility allows students to join a class of peers and share ideas, show examples of your projects and discuss your course work. This provides the perfect way to maintain motivation whilst making new friends.

Workshops

The workshops available are another unique part of undertaking a KLC Open Learning Course. KLC offers a broad range of short courses at our studios in Chelsea Harbour, many of which have been specifically put together to support the Open Learning Courses. These also provide an excellent opportunity to meet with other students. (Fees are payable for short courses).

One to one tutorials

Students can opt to take personal tutorials, which are one (or two) hour sessions with one of our tutors on a one-to-one basis, providing professional guidance on a student’s work. (Fees are payable for one to one tutorials).

Regional groups

We encourage Open Learning students to interact with one another throughout their course and to contact other students in their locality to join a study group or even form their own.

Discount on books, enquipment & KLC Short Courses

Students enrolled on a KLC course will be able to take advantage of special discounts on books, equipment and KLC’s short courses.

Annual Awards

KLC has an annual interior design awards ceremony held at the Royal Institute of British Architects. There are awards presented by key companies in the industry for top achieving Open Learning interior design students.
