During the week students will be given a fascinating insight into the whole process of garden design. The approach is practical with a combination of lectures and workshops with advice on how to plan a functional layout and what is involved in a site survey and analysis. There will be an overview of influential garden styles and talks on the principles of garden design, planning garden layouts, the fundamentals of planting and hard landscaping materials. Students will work to a given brief in order to design an example garden. They will then be shown how to create a planting plan which enhances the atmosphere of the garden. On the final afternoon there will be an informal review of the week’s work. Students will also be given an opportunity to meet some of the tutors from our vocational training courses- this will be a chance to have any questions answered if you are either enrolled, or thinking about enrolling on one of our courses.
